Weganda

The Weganda Review is a literary journal produced in Uganda as a project of the cultural nonprofit Weganda Foundation. The platform, founded by Rodney Muhumuza in 2023, features writers, researchers, academics, artists, and others publishing short fiction, poetry, art portfolios, photography, diaries, reviews, and essays.
The magazine’s latest issue, which is the eighth, has contributions from Timothy Kalyegira, Foyin Ejilola, Rodney Muhumuza, Tom Courtright, Joemario Umana, Sanni Omodolapo, Anna Zgambo, Gathondu Mwangi, Marvellous Mmesomachi Igwe, Philip Matogo, Sam Tusemerirwe, Joseph Mugume, Nuwa Wamala Nnyanzi, Edgar Raymond Batte, and Hajarah Nalwadda. The cover art is a batik piece of art, titled Wondering by Nuwa Wamala Nnyanzi.

Akpata

Akpata is a Nigerian literary magazine published by students of the Department of English and Literature, University of Benin. Founded with the goal of showcasing the creative brilliance emanating from universities and beyond, Akpata brings together African voices and global perspectives.
The first edition edited by Joemario Umana has poetry, fiction, and nonfiction from Sujoy Bhattacharya, John Chinaka Onyeche, Muheez Olawale, Felix Eshiet, D.W. Isele Quarterly

Isele is a literary magazine, founded in 2020, that publishes fiction, poetry, essays, interviews, and book reviews.
The first quarterly issue of 2025 explores the fleeting beauty of life’s impermanence. The current issue, the April edition, has fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. The Journal of African Youth Literature (JAY Lit)

The Journal of African Youth Literature (JAY Lit) publishes literature written by, about, and/or for born-in-Africa youths from 15 to 35 years. They publish literature written by Africans in this age category and by individuals who are writing with African youths in mind.
The latest issue has poetry, fiction, non-fiction, plays, photography, visual arts, and critical essays from writers from Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Liberia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Angola.
