The second edition of the Marrakech English Book Festival runs in the Moroccan city from January 17 – 19, 2024
The Marrakech English Book Festival is a literary festival with English as its primary language formed as a result of the partnership between the Marrakech English Book Association and the British Council in Morocco. It comprises a series of events, ranging from discussions and interviews with invited authors to children’s book events (including exhibitions, readings, and illustration workshops). It is co-hosted by venue partners the Moroccan National Museums Foundation (FNM), who have allowed the festival events to take place at the historic Dar El Bacha Museum of Confluences, and accommodation partners the JAAL Riad Resort Marrakech, who are hosting all the guest authors. It is also closely supported by the education partners The British Academy School Marrakech, the Cadi Ayyad, and UM6P Universities.
Some of the featured writers are Laila Lalami, Hannah Ait Ahmed, Mhani Alaoui, Mehrdokht Amini, Abigail Assor, Khalid Bekkaoui Puneet Bhandal, Jane Green, Hassan Hilmy, Jane Johnson, Amira K Bennison, Fouad Laroui, Hassan Mekouar, Mbarek Sryfi, and Fiona Valpy.
