Molara Wood was appointed Chief Editor at Ouida Books, One Read Africa on January 8, 2019.

Ouida Books is a publishing house based in Lagos, Nigeria founded in 2016 by novelist, poet and Ake Festival director Lola Shoneyin. The publishing house has quickly emerged as one of the most progressive on the continent signing up authors like Odafe Atogun, Nnedi Okorafor, Ayobami Adebayo, Dami Ajayi, Tomi Adeyemi, Chike Frankie Edozien, Ayo Oyeku, Feyi Olubodun, and Hadiza El Rufai.

One Read Africa is a sister organisation of Ouida Books aimed at making African books available across the continent.

The publisher has today announced on its Twitter that they have appointed Molara Wood as its chief editor.

Molara Wood, an editor, creative writer, journalist, and critic, is not a new name to those who follow the African literary scene. Described as “one of the eminent voices in the arts in Nigeria” she is the writer of the short story collection Indigo (2013) published by Parrésia Publishers. Her short stories, flash fiction, poetry and essays have appeared in numerous publications, including African Literature Today, Chimurenga, Farafina Magazine, Sentinel Poetry, DrumVoices Revue, Sable LitMag, Eclectica Magazine, The New Gong Book of New Nigerian Short Stories and One World: A Global Anthology of Short Stories.
