Moses Abukutsa wins Kikwetu Flash Fiction Contest 2022.

Moses Abukutsa’s Nalongo was declared the winner of the Kikwetu Flash Fiction Contest 2022 on December 1, 2022.

Kikwetu is an annual online literary journal that publishes both new and established writers from East Africa and beyond in English and Swahili. The journal which was started in 2015 announced a contest asking for writers to send out their best work in their new flash fiction contest. Writers sent in their work and the finalists were announced on November 12.

The winning story was announced to be Nalongo by Moses Abukutsa. Abukutsa has in the past been shortlisted for the NALIF (Nyanza Literary Festival) literary prize for his short story ‘Abraham’s Cremation’ and recently long-listed for the 2022 Afritondo short story prize. He has also published short stories and poetry online with Kalahari review, Praxis, African Writer, Kikwetu, Afritondo, Storymoja, and khusoko.com.
