Nakuru Kitabu Fest hosted in Kenya’s fourth city

Joan Thatiah, Ciku Kimeria, and Richard Oduor Oduku were the featured writers at Nakuru Kitabu Fest on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

Nakuru Kitabu Fest aims to enhance and encourage artistic expression through reading, writing, performance, and intellectual literary discourses and forums in Nakuru City. The first edition of the event, founded by Pita Oduor, featured Silas Nyanchwani, Chomba Njoka, and Boniface Mwalii on December 10, 2023.

The sophomore event in the series was hosted at the Nakuru Players Theatre on Sunday, January 28, 2024. The day’s topics were “The Contemporary Woman: Witnessing Women in Transition” and “The Place of Non-Fiction in Recording Our History and in Telling Our Own Stories.” It was moderated by writer, publisher, translator, and film photographer Alexis Teyie.

Joan Thatiah, Ciku Kimeria, and Richard Oduor Oduku spoke to the dozens of those in the audience on the day’s topics, took other questions, and afterward signed their books. And took selfies.

Also performing on the day was Stella Wambui aka Wambui The Poet.
