Olongo Africa’s Black Orpheus Fellows were announced in Lagos, Nigeria on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Olongo Africa is a web publication that features African writing, including literature, journalism, and travelogues, founded by Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún in 2020.
In 2024, they announced that they were offering long-term and short-term opportunities to support quality research and writing on the history, politics, and influence of the Black Orpheus journal and the Mbari Club generation. They were offering both in-person fellowships on the ground in Lagos, Nigeria, as well as remote fellowships in Nigeria and elsewhere around the world involving independent research with the digitized (and physical) archives of Black Orpheus journals.
The call out had 59 applications which were whittled down to;

The Black Orpheus Fellows will work with a team of OlongoAfrica editors and consultants. Mọlará Wood, acclaimed writer and editor, will support the work on the project, helping to guide scholars in their research directions.
