The Open Book Youth Fest 2025 will be hosted in venues around Cape Town, South Africa from March 18 – 26, 2025.
The Open Book Festival is a literary festival held annually in Cape Town, South Africa since 2011. In 2023, the first Open Book Youth Fest was hosted to encourage young people to read and develop their storytelling skills. It also helped to connect young people with established writers.
The 2025 edition returns with a series of events for young residents in venues around the southernmost city on the continent. They include Langa Library, Cape Town Museum of Childhood, Pinelands Library, Central Library: Arena, Moses Mabhida Library, Bertha House Kopanong, Book Lounge, Wynberg Library, and Bertha House: Activist Café. There will be storytelling, workshops, poetry performances, and an open mic over the twelve days of the festival.
Some of the featured guests will be Refiloe Moahloli, Kirsten Deane, Salamina Mosese, Meridian Berndt, Hani du Toit, Lisa Julie, Alex Latimer, Xolisa Guzula, Thandiwe Nqanda, Subi Bosa, Zizipho Bam who will host the open mic. Below are some of the scheduled events.
