Pa Gya! A Literary Festival 2024 is set to be hosted in venues in Accra, Ghana from October 18 – 20, 2024.
Pa Gya! A Literary Festival features readings, panel discussions, performances, book launches and sales, literary prize awards, and much more. Its name Pa Gya! comes from the Twi word meaning “to lift up” or “to strike flame” and is aimed at igniting passion for the literary arts. It was first hosted by the Writers Project of Ghana and the Goethe-Institut in 2017 followed by other successful editions in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023.
The 2024 edition will engage with all literary forms — fiction, poetry, spoken word, comic and graphic novels, creative non-fiction, and literary blogging. It will feature readings, panel discussions, performances, book launches, literary prize awards, art talks, art and literary exhibitions, film screenings, and many more activities. Booksellers, publishers, and independent authors will also have space to showcase and sell their books. It will be a partner to Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture.
