The twenty-seventh edition of Poetry Africa 2023 will be hosted in Durban, South Africa from October 5 – 17, 2022.
Poetry Africa is an international poetry festival first hosted by the Centre for Creative Arts at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa in 1996. The festival has hosted some of the biggest names in world poetry like Werewere Liking, Chris Abani, Chirikure Chirikure, Didier Awadi, Gabeba Baderoon, Dennis Brutus, Kwame Dawes, Gcina Mhlophe, Lesego Rampolokeng, and Benjamin Zephaniah.
The Centre of Creative Arts has announced that this year’s edition of the poetry extravaganza will be hosted in its traditional month of October. During that period, South Africa will be the centre of poetry readings, book launches, outreaches to schools and the community, and a lot more.
For those who might be in that part of the world, you want to book these dates so that you may attend as a guest. This especially applies if you are a lover of the poetry form and if you are reading this that means you. The festival program will be announced on September 5.
