The finalists for the Prix du Roman Métis des Lecteurs 2023 were announced on Thursday, October 19, 2023.
The Grand Prix du Roman Métis is an international literary prize awarded every year by the city of Saint-Denis in Reunion since 2010. It rewards a French-language novel highlighting the values of cross-breeding, diversity, and humanism. Since 2011, the institution has also awarded the Métis Novel Prize for high school students each year, covering four titles from the Grand Prize selection, and whose jury is made up of two high school students per participating establishment, from the Réunion Academy and Madagascar (since 2015). Some of the previous winners have been Maryse Conde, Lyonel Trouillot, Tierno Monénembo, Léonora Miano, Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, Gaëlle Bélem, and Ananda Devi.
For 2023, the jury is made up of professionals from the book world and the 2022 winner Ananda Devi. There were 34 entries by authors from Reunion Island, mainland France, Belgium, Romania, Russia, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Mauritius, Comoros, Madagascar, Congo, Rwanda, Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Turkey, Lebanon and Iraq submitted. From these, the following writers of African descent made the roll;

The winners will be announced on November 16 at the François-Mitterrand media library in Saint-Denis de La Réunion before the awards ceremony on December 5, 2023, at Château Morange, in Saint-Denis.
