Prix National Cénacle du Livre Senegal 2024 finalists were announced in Dakar, Senegal on Wednesday, November 27, 2024

Prix National Cénacle du Livre Senegal (English: Senegal National Book Cenacle Prize) is an initiative from Cénacle des Jeunes Écrivains du Sénégal to promote books and writers, intends to reward the best works published in Senegal, written by Senegalese or foreigners, without distinction of age. The first winners,Tabara Niang, Maguèye Toure, and Elaz Ndongo Thioye, received the 1,x000,000 FCFA cash prize and a reissue of 100 copies of their prize-winning books. Fatimata Diallo Ba and Papa Samba Kane were the 2023 winners.

The 2024 jury is comprised of Abdoulaye Racine Senghor who is the president alongside Harouna Dior, Djibril Diallo Falémé, Andrée Marie Diagne, and Abdourahmane Mbengue. This jury announced the finalists in the categories of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction which featured the following writers;

Fiction

  • Frissons De Societe, Alassane Mbengue (Editions Plumes d’ébène)
  • L’Innocence De Tamara, Helene Bernadette Ndong (Editions L’Harmattan)
  • La Banquiere, Alpha Daouda Ba (Editions L’Harmattan)

Poetry

  • L’Irrésistible Attrait De L’Ordinaire, Matheson (Editions Al Faruq)
  • Balade En Blues Sur La Venise Du Sude, Khady Fall Faye Diagne (Editions L’Harmattan)
  • Le Geographie De L’absence, Khalil Diallo (Editions Al Faruq)

Nonfiction

  • Histoires d’école, Mamadou Dembélé (Editions L’Harmattan)
  • Chroniques D’Un Pays Des Sables, Khadijetou Sall (Editions L’Harmattan)

The winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Grand Théâtre National Doudou Ndiaye Coumba Rose in Dakar on December 27, 2024.
