The longlist for the Quramo Writers’ Prize 2024 was announced in Lagos, Nigeria on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
The Quramo Writers’ Prize is awarded annually to an unpublished fiction manuscript by an unpublished author. It was founded by Lagos-based Quramo Publishers to encourage and stimulate a new community of talented writers as well as provide an opportunity for otherwise unexposed talent to achieve publishing recognition. Previous winners have been Samuel Monye (2017), Michael Emmanuel (2018), Vivian Onyekachi Ibe (2019), Kadiri Alex (2020), Akinnimi Akintomiwa Oluwaseun (2021), and Ibrahim Babatunde Ibrahim (2022), and Chiziterem Chijioke (2023).
The longlist for this year, which features writers who have captivated our imagination and testified to the incredible diversity and talent within Africa, was announced on Wednesday. Those recognised are;

4. Arthur Gabriel Yak
5. Bisola Akintomide
6. Chidi Nwapa
7. Chukwuma Jonathan Joanathan
8. Deryus Kwabena Partey
9. Henry Chukwuemeka Onyema
10. Ifeanyi Kalu
11. Immaculate Halla
12. Joseph Olamide Babalola
13. Kabir Sabe Jibia
14. Lawal Ayuba Adewale
15. Martin Chukwumah
16. Ornguze Nashima Nathaniel
17. Oyeleye Esther Eniola
18. Sandra Uche Delumozie
19. Selome Abiodun Medemaku
20. Vandefan Aondongu Fidelis
The shortlist will be announced soon before the overall winner is unveiled at the Grand Finale of the Quramo Festival of Words (QFest) in October. They will receive a cash prize of 1,000,000 naira and a publishing deal, courtesy of Quramo Publishing Ltd.
