In the book, a spirited young character called Yanga is the “3 Tins” champion in his community. His life changes completely when his “3 Tins” skills are channeled into cricket. Yanga’s crazy talent takes him from local school team to the global sporting stage as one of the stars of the South African Cricket World Cup team.

“This is a splendid initiative to inspire our youth,” commented Cricket SA Commercial head, Kugandrie Govender. “As role models for our country, part of the vision of our (South African national cricket team) Proteas is to inspire individuals to live their dreams and I wish Refiloe every success with this extremely worthwhile project.”

Moahloli, a cricket fanatic, said at the launch, “The Cricket SA endorsement packs a powerful punch and I am truly grateful for it! I am a huge fan of the Proteas so to see this book gain so much support is extra special to me.  It is awesome and encouraging that an organization like the Cricket SA has got involved in this space, we need more of this kind of initiative in order to make a real impact on the state of children’s literacy in our country.”

Yes Yanga! published by Pan Macmillan South Africa also has an isiXhosa version available, titled Yheke Yanga!

Refiloe Moahloli’s previous offering for kids is How Many Ways Can You Say Hello? which was published in 2017.
