Three prizes were handed out at the closing ceremony of Rentrée Littéraire du Mali 2023 prizes in Bamako, Mali on February 25, 2023.
Rentrée Littéraire du Mali (Literary Return of Mali) is a festival of books, words, and ideas hosted annually in Bamako, Mali. It invites writers, academics, researchers, and artists from five continents and the public to question our imaginations and their territories for peaceful living together and a sustainable world.
The annual festival, first hosted in 2008, ran again in the Mali capital city from February 21 – 25. To check out some of the guests who attended, please click here.
The closing ceremony is always a special occasion as literary prizes are handed out to writers this time at the Muso Kunda Museum in Bamako. The following were the winners on the Saturday.
Prix Ahmed Baba 2023

Prix Massa Makan Diabaté (2 million CFA)

Prix Union européenne premier roman (1 million CFA)

The next edition of the festival, which will be the sixteen, is set to run in Bamako, Mali from February 19 – 23, 2024.
