Rentrée Littéraire du Mali 2024 runs in venues around Bamako, Mali from February 20 – 24, 2024. The festival theme is “The Africa of Living Together.”

Rentrée Littéraire du Mali (Literary Return of Mali) is a festival of books, words, and ideas hosted in Bamako, Mali since 2008. It invites writers, academics, researchers, and artists from around the world and the Malian public to question our imaginations and their territories for peaceful living together and a sustainable world.

The festival theme this year is “L’Afrique du vivre-ensemble” which Google Translate tells us in English is “The Africa of living together.” Like in previous years, those who attend can expect a full program featuring readings of both poetry and prose, literary cafes, workshops, panels, tributes, keynote addresses, and loads more. The prizes Prix Moussa Sow 2024, Prix Union Europeenne Premier Roman 2024, Prix Massa Makan Diabate 2024, and Prix Ahmed Baba 2024 will also be awarded.

The guests come from the host country Mali as well as from Togo, Haiti, Canada, Portugal, Angola, Madagascar, Morocco, Algeria, France, Chad, Somalia, Tunisia, Cameroon, Senegal, Mauritania, Rwanda, Niger, Ghana, Kenya, Mayotte, Congo, and Cote D’Ivoire. They include Mbarek Beyrouk, Louis-Philippe Dalembert, Macalou Awa Dembélé, Modibo Coulibaly, Boubacar Sangaré, Saibou Coulibaly, Mahamadou Issa Samaké, Zeïna Haïdara, Taki Kanté, Sami Tchak, Rodney St Éloi, Michèle Rakotoson, Ondjaki, Kebir Mustapha-Ammi, Nétonon Noël Ndjékéry, Nuruddin Farah, Diadié Dembélé, Mouha Harmel, Balla Fofana, Ubah Cristina Ali Farah, Alain Serge Dzotap, Khalil Diallo, Dominique Celis, Antoinette Tidjani Alou, Mohamed Abdalah, Nadia Essalmi, Claire Paul Coulibaly, Armand Gauz, Véronique Diarra, Beata Umubyeyi Mairesse, Amadou Tidiani Traoré, Abdoulaye Fode Ndione, Amelia Kapinga Beya, Ernis, Morakabe Raks Seakhoa, Ama Dadson, Dieudonné Niangouna, Idza Luhumyo, Ousmane Touré, Nassuf Djailani, and many others.
