The Rutanang Book Fair 2018 artists to feature at this year’s edition, its third iteration, have been announced by fair organisers. This year’s theme is ‘United by the Book.’
The Rutanang Book Fair was founded in 2016 to showcase the best of literature from Tlokwe and the greater South Africa. That event was well received by the people of Tlokwe. The festival then went online in 2017 meaning that anyone with a decent internet connection anywhere in the world could take part in festival activities.
As earlier announced, the Rutanang Book Fair 2018 will be hosted at the Govan Mbeki hall in Tlokwe, South Africa from April 26-28, 2018. This year the team organizing the event are using the book to unite people. Seeing as the passion that people have, or should have, for books can be used as a unifying tool the theme is ‘United by the Book.’
The three day event will feature for the first time Nomcebo Ngema, Jackie Phamotse, Oageng Keaobaka, and Dan Dlamini. Making a return to the fair are Charmaine Kolwane Mrwebi, Mpho Matsitle, Lebo Maphosa and Sabata-Mpho Mokae.
The organisers state that the program will include book readings, book launches, presentations, panel discussions, children’s theater, music, poetry and a creative writing workshop to be facilitated by Sabata-Mpho Mokae.
This year the official hashtag campaign, we have to have these things nowadays, is #TlokweReads.
