Salon International du Livre d’Alger 2024 starts November 6

Salon International du Livre d’Alger 2024 runs in Algiers, Algeria from November 6 – 16, 1014. The guest country is Qatar.

Salon International du Livre d’Alger (English: International Book Fair of Algiers) is a cultural event dedicated to books and writing first hosted in 1996. It is organized annually at the Palais des Expositions des Pins Maritimes in Algiers by the Algerian Ministry of Culture.

The 2024 edition promised to be the biggest and best with many participants confirmed including 1020 exhibitors, 41 countries, 7 African, and hundreds of thousands of titles showcased. The program will focus on six major themes: History and Memory (marking the 70th anniversary of the November 1, 1954, Revolution), Palestine, Africa, Literature, Algerian Cultural Heritage, and a special theme dedicated to Qatar as the guest of honor.

Where guest country Qatar is concerned, engagements will be done recognizing the deep, mutual respect that has characterized Algerian-Qatari relations for decades. It will feature a rich cultural program highlighting Qatari creativity in literature, thought, and translation, collaborating with their Algerian counterparts to deepen the historical and cultural bonds between the two brotherly countries.

For the second year, a special space will be dedicated to Palestine’s resistance and resilience, with intellectuals from Gaza and Palestine in general participating.

Many writers who will feature including Amin Zaoui, Rachida Brakni, Jamil Rahmani, Rabia Djelti, Nasser Zammit, Chems-Eddine Chitour, Kader Gaid, Jugurtha Abbou, Amel El Mahdi, Farouk Bouyakoub, Manel Benchouk, Adib Benazzi, Jewee, Hamza Koudri, Mahrez Si-Saber, Fateh Boumahdi, Kaci Djerbib, Zine Benbadis, and Souad Bellili Dine.

Algeria’s Ministry of Mujahideen and Veterans, the Higher Islamic Council, the High Commission for Amazigh Language, the Higher Arabic Language Council, the Algerian Language Academy, the National Office for Copyrights and Neighboring Rights, and the Publishers’ Union will partner to ensure that this event runs.
