Another day, another African literary festival. This time round the host is Makurdi the capital of the state Benue in Nigeria and the festival is the Sevhage Literary Festival. The Sevhage Literary Festival is organised by the Sevhage Imprint of Vershage Publishers. These are also the folks behind Sevhage Reviews that publication we all love so much.

So what will you likely be doing when you are there? On the days leading to it guests following the festival theme of ‘making words count’ do several things. They will visit at state and national libraries, go to the medium-security prison to donate books and also talk to the people. They will also visit schools and orphanages.
On the days of the festival, there will feature panel discussions, critique sessions as well as feature performances.
The festival will also have some e-books launched in the tradition of book events.
If this looks like your kettle of fish (I wanted to talk about your kettle of gari but I’m afraid I might use the term inappropriately) then Makurdi, Nigeria is the place for you next week.
