Wole Soyinka, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Zukiswa Wanner are among the writers who will take part in the Creative Africa Nexus (Canex) Literary Webinar on August 31.
The International African Trade Fair is an initiative that supports the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area. Established by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement in 2018, it has 43 parties and another 11 signatories, making it the largest free-trade area by number of member states, after the World Trade Organization. The International African Trade Fair has been hosted twice, in Cairo, Egypt in 2018 and in Durban, South Africa in 2021.
The 2023 edition of the fair will be hosted at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre and Al Manara International Conference Centre in Cairo, Egypt from November 9 – 15. One of its programs is the Creative Africa Nexus (Canex) which provides a range of financing and non-financing instruments and interventions aimed at supporting trade and investment in Africa’s creative sector.
Just like in previous years, CANEX is hosting events leading up to the fair in Cairo in December. One of these is the CANEX Literary Seminar which will have some of the leading writers and literary activists on the continent. Those who attend will gain expert insights into today’s most pressing issues and learn how to thrive in today’s publishing and writing landscape.
Featured guests include Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, Goethe Medalist Zukiswa Wanner, multiple award winner Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as well as publisher Jessemusse Cacinda, literary activist Lorraine Sithole, and Ayodeji Olatoye. The virtual event will be anchored by Narrative Landscape Publisher Dr Eghosa Imasuen.
