Storymoja Festival 2020 makes callout

Storymoja Festival 2020 makes callout for interns.

Storymoja Festival 2020 has made a callout for those who would like to intern for Kenya’s most famous literary festival.

The Storymoja Festival, founded by Muthoni Garland, is an international celebration of ideas, stories, writing and culture through books, live discussions, storytelling, skits, poetry, music, demonstrations, workshops, debates, exhibitions, live performance, art, and competitions.

Since the festival started in 2007, it has had many famous writers attending like Wole Soyinka, Namwali Serpell, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor Aminatta Forna, Ben Okri, Lola Shoneyin, Yusef Komunyakaa, Dinaw Mengistu, Teju Cole, Kwame Dawes, Kofi Awoonor, Wally Mongane Serote, Mshai Mwangola, Tsitsi Dangarembga, and dozens more.

While it had built its name as the go-to festival in East Africa, it has been having a tough few years failing to run since the 2017 edition. The team trying to get the show on the road has been very quiet until the end of the past week when we saw an ad on social media making a callout for interns. There are 200 slots for interns for the festival that promises to happen sometime in 2020.

The festival which will run from Wednesday, February 26th – Sunday 1st March, according to its ad for interns, will have the theme “disruption.”

If you want to apply for one of the many slots still currently available please click here.
