The longlist of the Toyin Fálọlá Prize 2024 was announced in Lagos, Nigeria on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
The Toyin Fálọlá Prize is an award for short stories from Nigerian-based Lunaris aimed at honouring distinguished African scholar and foremost historian, Prof Toyin Fálọlá. It celebrates his endeavours and contributions to the advancement of African cultures, peoples, myths, and histories. Previous winners of the award set up in 2020 have been Abdulrahim Hussani, Fayssal Bensalah, and Tshepiso Mabula.
The longlist for the 2024 edition of the prize has been announced with the following in the running;
- Fibers from the deep, Divine Inyang Titus
- Liquid Gold, Osieka Osinimu Alao.
- The Blood We Tie, Immaculate Halla
- The Harvestor’s Commandment, Mohammad Haruna
- Dan Maliyo, Shedrack Opeyemi Akanbi
- To Live Between Names, Isaac Kilibwa
- A Place Like Here, Mlilo Mpondo
- SOS, Fatima Okhuosami
- The Recrudescence, Nwafor Emmanuel
The shortlist and winner will be announced later in the year.
