Ese Emmanuel and Dennis Mugaa were named A Long House Rajat Neogy Editorial Fellows on July 12, 2023.
A Long House is a new frontier for black thought, stories, and critical discourse that was started in 2020. They announced themselves with a series of curated discussions featuring some of the most respected names in the writing business today. These included Safia Elhillo alongside Ladan Osman, Kwame Dawes in conversation with Gregory Pardlo, as well as Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi and Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor.
In 2021, they announced a new fellowship named for Rajat Neogy, the famed Ugandan founder of Transition one of the most influential literary magazines and frontier for intellectual debates to ever come out of the continent. The fellows were supposed to work with founding editors on editing the works of contributors and many other roles. The inaugural fellows were Clarie Gor and Kelechi Njoku.
The newest fellows were announced and they are Ese Emmanuel and Dennis Mugaa. Here is information about them;
Ese Emmanuel

Ese Emmanuel is a writer, cultural worker, and curator, among other things. Their work prioritises the radical imaginary: conscious acts of space-making for collaboration, play, care, and rest. They currently live and work between Lagos and Ibadan, Nigeria.
Dennis Mugaa

Dennis Mugaa is a writer from Meru, Kenya. He won the 2022 Black Warrior Review Fiction Contest, was Shortlisted for Isele Magazine’s inaugural Short Story Prize and was longlisted for the 2021 Afritondo Short Story Prize. His work has appeared in Fantasy Magazine, Jalada Africa, Lolwe, Isele Magazine and Washington Square Review. He has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia where he was a 2021/2022 Miles Morland Foundation Scholarship recipient.
