Grenada Writers’ Prize 2025 Announces Inaugural Longlist

The longlist for the inaugural Grenada Writers’ Prize was announced in St Georges, Grenada, on Monday, November 10, 2025. This new national short story competition is open to residents of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.

The prize, part of the annual Grenada Book Festival, features two categories: one for adults (21+) and another for young writers (15-20). Winners receive cash prizes, mentoring, and exposure. The Grenada Office of Creative Affairs and other sponsors support the initiative.

From 49 submissions, a longlist of fifteen writers has been selected.

“I had the chance to look through some of the stories, and I must say I’m extremely excited for our writers,” said Amy Jones, Lead Director for the competition. “The titles were captivating, and some stories tugged on my heartstrings! The judges’ feedback echoed my own sentiment that we have budding potential with our Grenadian writers. The individuals on the longlist really stood out; they were all so good that I’m glad I wasn’t a judge.”
