The shortlist for the inaugural Grenada Writers’ Prize was announced in St. George’s, Grenada, on Monday, November 24, 2025.

The Grenada Writers’ Prize is a new national short story competition open to residents of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique. This initiative, supported by the Grenada Office of Creative Affairs and other sponsors, will award winners with cash prizes, mentoring, and professional exposure.

The longlist was made public on Monday, November 10, before the shortlist was revealed two weeks later.

Amy Jones, the competition’s lead director, said: “Our judges have expressed excitement in this second round of judging and high commendation to writers for their exceptional imagery and attention to detail through the development of each story. As a published Grenadian writer, it brings me so much joy to know that we just might have more published books on the way from upcoming local authors.”
The 2025 shortlisted writers are:

  • Najila Woodroofe
  • Jahym Franklyn
  • Marsha Antoine Beckford
  • Sabrina Forsyth
  • Reanna George Simon
  • David Twum-Barimah

The winner will be announced on Wednesday, December 10.
