The Prix de la Littérature Arabe 2025 shortlist was announced in Paris, France, on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
The Prix de la Littérature Arabe is awarded to a writer, a national of a member country of the Arab League, and an author of a published book, novel, collection of short stories or poems, written in French or translated from Arabic into French. Created by the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation and the Institut Du Monde Arabe in 2013, it is the only French award distinguishing Arab literary creation. Previous winners have been Jabbour Douaihy (2013), Mohammed al-Fakharany (2014), Mohammed Hasan Alwan (2015), Inaam Kachachi (2016), Sinan Antoon (2017), Omar Robert Hamilton (2018), Mohammed Abdelnabi (2019), Abdelaziz Baraka Sakin (2020), and Amira Ghenim (2024).
The 2025 shortlist announced featured the following African writers;
- Brève histoire de la Création et de l’Est du Caire (translated from Arabic by Sophie Pommier and May Rostom), Shady Lewis (Egypt), Editions Sindbad/Actes Sud
- Je me regarderai dans les yeux, Rim Battal (Morocco), Editions Bayard
- Je suis ma liberté (translated from Arabic by Stéphanie Dujols), Nasser Abu Srour (Palestine), Editions Gallimard
- La fin du Sahara (translated from Arabic by Lotfi Nia), Saïd Khatibi (Algeria), Editions Gallimard
- La Naturalisation, Zied Bakir (Tunisia), Editions Grasset
- Un goût de thé amer (translated from Arabic by Sarah Rolfo), Mohammed Alnaas (Libya), Editions Le bruit du monde
The winner selected by a jury chaired by lawyer and writer Alexandre Najjar will receive the award, which includes an 8,000 Euros cash prize, at a ceremony in Paris on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
